About Me

Passionate About Teaching Physics

Stanford

Stanford PhD

Astrophysics, 2022

Earned a PhD in Astrophysics from Stanford University, conducting research on estimating the mass of neutron stars through telescopic data — pushing the frontier of our understanding of extreme stellar objects.

Bronze Medalist

International Physics Olympiad 2011

Competed against 400+ of the world's brightest young physicists from 80+ countries at the 42nd IPhO. This experience shaped my deep understanding of physics and my approach to teaching it.

I help ambitious students master physics and achieve their dream scores.

I'm Dinesh Kandel, a PhD in Astrophysics from Stanford (2022), where my research focused on estimating the mass of neutron stars through telescopic data. As a Bronze Medalist at the 42nd International Physics Olympiad (2011), I know firsthand what it takes to compete — and succeed — at the highest level. I've taken that deep, intuition-first understanding of physics and turned it into a teaching approach that makes complex concepts click.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in building deep conceptual understanding, not rote memorization. I guide students to think like physicists — developing problem-solving frameworks they can apply to any challenge, from AP exams to Olympiad-level problems.

Coaching USAPhO & IPhO candidates — helping students prepare for the F=ma exam, USAPhO, and international physics olympiad competitions.

Taught in Canada's indigenous communities — bridging access gaps in STEM education for minority and native students who deserve world-class instruction.

Tutoring across Greater Seattle — helping students in Bothell, Redmond, Bellevue, and Seattle thrive in physics, math, and science.
